Jesus wants them to believe in him. We can almost hear him saying:
"If you don't believe because you trust ME, then at least believe because of my works; because of all these miracles I am doing for you: curing your sick, healing the lame, giving sight to the blind..., or even because of my teaching which gives your lives meaning anew."
Like any child who looks at daddy, and wonders: "Can I really believe him?" Like a spouse, even after being married for years: "Do they love me?" The best proof is found in actions.
Maybe today you could take a look at yourself and call to mind of few of God's "miracles" in your life.
Does Jesus really love you? Has he given you reasons to believe?
