There are things we can be SURE God wants: the salvation of each soul, that evil actions not be taken.
There are other things we want, but are not sure if God also wants it: health, feelings, career.
Jesus says in today's Gospel that even when God doesn't want it, that we may beg until he "gets out of bed to give us what we want."
"So why doesn't this work for me?" you ask!
Many overlook two minor details: 1. that the passage is talking about going to a FRIEND in the middle of the night, and 2. that God is willing to give the "HOLY SPIRIT" to those who ask him.
What does it mean to be God's friend? Are you asking - if not exclusively, at least in addition - for the gift of the Holy Spirit?
