Empty

Prayer is all about pouring out your heart to God. But, it's also about letting God pour his heart into yours.

Martha prayed well, in today's Gospel, by pouring out her heart to God like we so often do, almost desperate: "Tell her to help me!" Yes, life is tough, and we want it to be easier.

And Jesus answers her prayer, by teaching her what really matters. That there is "only one thing necessary" - union with him.

In prayer our hearts cannot be filled, until we first empty them.
