The USA is among the "15 most emotional" countries according to a recent poll. That's not necessarily a good thing, though...
The Gospel talks about the end of the world again. Some will react with fear; others try to drown out those kinds of thoughts with the "here-and-now".
Emotions are not chosen. They are not good in-and-of themselves. But they are also not bad. They are simply our natural reactions to external stimuli: movies, conversations, spilt milk, hair loss ... and, yes, Jesus talking about the end of the world.
So the fact that any given nation has "more emotions" isn't necessarily good; but it can be. It's like having more money on the poker table - you've got more to lose, but also more to win.
So when you hear about the end of the world - or the milk on the floor - let your emotions help you win more. By choosing those actions which lead to greater virtue.
