Sola Scriptura ... a few Reminders

(Gospel) Sola Scriptura holds no water.

Apart from the simple fact that the very same man (Martin Luther) who invented the concept that only what is found in the Bible should be believed (Sola Scriptura) took upon himself the liberty to remove a few books from the Bible, Sola Sciptura is also a principle that is itself ... found nowhere in the Bible.

In other words, Sola Scriptura is not Biblical.

Besides, today's Gospel throws a bit of light in the other direction:

Since many have undertaken to compile a narrative of the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as those who were eyewitnesses from the beginning and ministers of the word have handed them down to us, I too have decided, after investigating everything accurately anew, to write it down in an orderly sequence for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may realize the certainty of the teachings you have received.

Pure text:
  • Eyewitnesses / from the beginning / handed down the events / that have been fulfilled among us ...
  • Many / have undertaken / to compile a narrative ...
  • I too / anew / after investigating / have decided / to write down / everything accurately ...

Conclusions:
The 4 Gospel texts that we have today were not the first, nor were they handed by God like the 10 commandments to Moses as a finished work. They depended on witnesses and on investigation of those who handed the narrative of events down to "us", that is (in the case of the Gospel of Luke) to Luke - who is not an apostle, together with the other part of that us - the Christian community he lived with. "They" had the authority to write a Gospel that we today accept as Gospel.

As a closing note, it is also of interest that there is within the Bible itself no "list of books which should be in the Bible."
