Storming the Interior Castle

When we searched for that right sacrifice for Lent (here) we learned that it isn't enough to calculate our good and bad actions externally - we must also ask ourselves why we do them.

After carrying out that kind of serious self examination, we will have found our greatest weaknesses. This is extremely important, and I'll tell you why.

When the devil attacks us, he first walks around us like a castle searching for our weakest wall, then he throws all his energies to make us fall there.

In other words, we are only as strong as our weakest point.

Whether it be examination of our good/bad actions and good/bad motives, or a simple reflection on where the devil tempts us the most - both will lead us to a greater self knowledge and thus to a greater capacity to choose those means that will truly help us - together with God's grace - to grow in love.
