"I'm awesome" is nowhere in the Gospel. But Jesus gets pretty close today when talking about John.
Like my older brother once: "You are definitely, by far, the BEST sweeper." (I used to sweep the kitchen daily after dinner.) "Of all those on the OTHER side of the moon, that is."
Jesus is saying: You're awesome John, but you're not in heaven yet... so anyone up there is much more awesome than you are.
When it comes to what matters Jesus has a one-track mind: Eternity.
