Ok, maybe Uncle Sam doesn't. But God might.
Yesterday Pope Francis said just that to the thousands of young people gathered outside his window in St. Peter's square.
Sometimes Jesus calls us... Youth must spend itself for high ideals. Do you think so? Do you agree? Ask Jesus what he wants from you and be brave! Be brave, ask Him!!!
For Pope Francis, an invitation to the God Squad, a calling to the priesthood or religious life, is a wonderful gift. An adventure. An ideal. And the shouts of "YES!" that greeted his words seemed to indicate that the crowd agreed.
Adventures aren't for the fainthearted. They have a tendency to include the uncomfortable. They give us blisters. But they also take us places. Places we could never have gone on our own. People we would never have met. Never have helped. Never have saved.
So the question is, who's ready for adventure?
Go here for the Pope's whole Regina Coeli talk.
