And here comes Hurricane Sandy! Is God punishing again? Are there more sinners in Florida that they keep getting hit?
The Gospel sheds a bit of light here: Jesus gives the example of two horrible events. One of them is caused by an evil man, the other by a "natural" accident.
In neither case, however, says Jesus, were those people considered more guilty than anyone else. However he calls them to use these opportunities to reflect on the shortness of life, and the need to live with our eyes always on eternity.
Disasters do not necessarily mean punishment from God. He wants our conversion and salvation. God gives us opportunities to repent,to change our lives. We have to act now, who knows tomorrow may be too late. God will never fail us.He continues to hope in us.God believes we can produce noble and lasting fruits of good works. Let us take advantage of the numerous chances that God gives us. Let us live the values of the Gospel.
